Just got into Schipol @ Amsterdam and I think the time is 25:30. Sure feels like it.
The plane flight over wasn’t that bad (for economy), except for the fact that I sat next to the 2nd most unsocial person in the world (First? Zombie Hitler). This guy said NOTHING, look at NOTHING, and did NOTHING. Who cares, though. Got to watch Thanks for Smoking (Good movie), Planet of the Apes (YOU BLEW IT UP!), and Mission Impossible III (bleh).
Didn’t grab a single wink of sleep on the flight, so my body clock is all sorts of messed up. It’s supposed to be 1AM in the states, but I’m watching the Dutch Sunrise (I have found that European Sunrises smell 50% more like cigarettes than US Sunrises). I’m kicking back with a pocket full of Euros, a bag full of Euro-spec Haribo Gummie Bears, and chugging down some European Fanta (More like Orangina than the toxic US nuclear waste). I’ve also got a box of stroopwafels and a small carafe of ultra-strong coffee. I feel so…international
I forgot how much fun it can be to be in Europe. Yeah, I know it’s an international airport, but dammit there is such a difference. It’s just that European feel you get: Lots of people, each with their own language. That lingering cigarette smell that’s EVERYWHERE. And the food…..oh, the food. And the chocolates! The Licorice Kittens!
I don’t look forward to my next 9 hour flight to Mumbai, but i do look forward to finally getting some sleep.
